Community or Wildlife Volunteering

A variety of opportunities for volunteers in South Africa on both community development and wildlife conservation projects. Teach English and other subjects to underprivileged school children and assist in over crowded class rooms; or care for orphans, many of whom are from broken families as a result of the AIDS pandemic. Wildlife volunteers can work at the Vervet Monkey Foundation in their rehabilitation sanctuary, or join a wildlife research team at the Karongwe Ecological Research Institute and work with the Big 5. A special one year program places Interns with SANParks (South Africa’s National Parks) where you will work alongside social ecologists and focus on the development of environmental education and community development projects.
