Volunteer with Street Children in India

Volunteers joining this short term program will work as teaching indian childassistants on much needed educational projects in tribal communities in Rajasthan, India. Volunteers will be working alongside and supporting other long term GVI volunteers in formal and non-formal schools. All the schools are over-subscribed and underfunded and having volunteers helps make the class sizes more manageable and provides valuable assistance on these worthwhile educational projects. The project usually involves teaching tribal children at formal schools in rural areas in the morning, or teaching street children at informal schools in the evening. Included in the program are basic Hindi lessons during the first week and a cultural workshop (which could be yoga, cookery or dance) in the second week. Some local trips are included, such as a visit to the Monsoon Palace and a trip to the Taj Mahal. Other optional side trips are available for those that wish to explore more of Rajasthan.
